COVID-19 Surface Testing

ECG can provide COVID-19 testing on a proactive basis, or as part of a post-cleaning verification project, to ensure that surfaces have been properly disinfected. ECG offers several COVID-19 Testing Options.

COVID-19 Post-Cleaning Verification Using ATP Testing
In order to verify that contaminated surfaces have been properly disinfected, ECG can perform a post-cleaning visual inspection and perform “post-cleaning verification testing.” The post-cleaning testing is accomplished using a method called “ATP Measurement,” which identifies traces of biological material.

After cleaning/disinfection activities, ECG uses ATP Measurement to test representative surfaces for traces of remaining biological contamination. The relative abundance or absence of ATP identified on tested surfaces is used to determine whether disinfection activities were performed adequately. Since this testing process is performed using a field instrument, testing results are available immediately.

Compared to testing that relies on laboratory analysis—or performing no testing at all—ECG’s testing process provides clients with several benefits, including:
  • Cost-effective, real-time testing results: If surfaces need to be re-cleaned, the client & cleaning contractor/personnel can be notified—and remedy the situation immediately.
  • Minimizing disruptions to your operations: For businesses and property managers, disinfecting spaces—and quickly verifying the success of the disinfection efforts—is essential to minimizing disruptions in normal operations. ECG’s post-cleaning verification testing provides immediate results, which can significantly reduce Coronavirus-related disruptions for our clients.
COVID-19 Testing Using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Analysis
COVID-19 testing using PCR analysis detects the genetic signature (RNA) of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in swab samples from contaminated surfaces. While PCR analysis is significantly more expensive than ATP testing, it identifies the actual genetic signature of the SARS-Cov-2 virus. As such, this test can be used to definitively show whether your services are contaminated with the COVID-19 virus. This test involves collecting swab samples from surfaces and submitting the samples to a laboratory for analysis. Results can be obtained within 48 hours.
