Drinking Water Testing for GSA

Environmental Consulting Group (ECG) has been testing drinking water in government buildings for over ten years. As an approved GSA contractor, we can provide drinking water tests and test results, quickly, in accordance with the new GSA program requirements.

In February 2024, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) implemented the Drinking Water Quality Management order to help ensure the well-being of building occupants, contractors, and visitors in federally owned facilities. The initiative calls for baseline water quality testing at all drinking water outlets in government buildings.

Water testing requirements for leased buildings can be found under the Water Testing Modification Effort, an addendum that will become part of lease agreements.

GSA Reimbursement

The GSA will reimburse building owners and landlords for the cost of the water test. The lessor must email an electronic copy of the contractor’s invoice to the Lease Administration Manager (identified in your ULA letter) within 3 business days after the completion of the work.

Be sure to use a GSA-approved environmental contractor who will follow the pre-approved reporting and pricing structure, such as ECG.

Water Testing Requirements

ECG’s environmental consultants will test drinking fountains, kitchen sinks, bottled water filling stations, and showers, where applicable. Levels of lead, copper, total coliform bacteria, E. coli, and Legionella will be measured against the EPA and CDC threshold limits, as shown below.

Our water testing specialists will quickly compile the lab results and notify you of the results.

ECG has a GSA-approved reporting format and will submit a copy of the Drinking Water Testing Report within the five-day requirement.
