No Further Remediation Letters for Underground Storage Tanks

Properties contaminated by a leaking underground storage tank are known as LUST sites (Leaking Underground Storage Tank sites). When contamination is found, a subsurface investigation is required to define the extent of the impact in vicinity of the tank. At that point, ECG can help the owner enter into the Illinois LUST Program, which reimburses owners for environmental investigation and clean-up costs.
When storage tank-related contamination is discovered, for most sites, physical remediation (e.g. soil removal) is not required. Often, ECG can address soil or groundwater contamination with a series of reports that demonstrate that the pollutant levels at the site are within acceptable limits.

By submitting these reports, a client can obtain a No Further Remediation Letter (NFR), which releases them from further responsibilities in performing remedial action. The NFR Letter is valuable to for site owners because it eliminates environmental obstacles that may otherwise complicate future attempts to sell or re-finance the property.
